Spiritual Desire?

I need thee O I need thee, every hour I need thee! This song has been continually on my heart over the past few days. I have provided a link at the end of this post so if you have time listen and let it bless you. As I sit before the Lord this morning I wanted to share something that the Lord has been ministering to me over the last few days. I have been praying for my heart to be close to Jesus and that my spiritual desire would be ravenous for the word of God! I need HIM folks!! My heart has been divided for to long for other things. I asked the Lord the question this morning," Why do our hearts become divided in our desire to be close to YOU?" I was surprised by the answer that He showed me in Mark 7:20-23. THis is from the Amplified Bible and spoke volumes to my heart 20And He said, What comes out of a man is what makes a man unclean and renders [him] unhallowed.
21For from within, [that is] out of the hearts of men, come base and wicked thoughts, sexual immorality, stealing, murder, adultery,     22Coveting (a greedy desire to have more wealth), dangerous and destructive wickedness, deceit; unrestrained (indecent) conduct; an evil eye (envy), slander (evil speaking, malicious misrepresentation, abusiveness), pride (the sin of an uplifted heart against God and man), foolishness (folly, lack of sense, recklessness, thoughtlessness).

23All these evil [purposes and desires] come from within, and they make the man unclean and render him unhallowed.
WOW! What Jesus is saying is that our hearts divide our devotion for and to Him. There is hope, we can apply several principles from GOds word to cause singleness of heart.

  1. Prayer continually for creation of a clean heart and a renewed spirit. Psalm 51:10- Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a right spirit within me!
  2. Take a bath in Gods word continually! Ephesians 5:26- Washing by the water of the word. We must have Gods word wash away the divided desires that withhold His full grasp in every area of our lives.
  3. Throw away dependence on self and fall CONTINUALLY on the place of desiring HIM! Matthew 7:6- Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.

If our hearts our homes and our heads are going to be different spiritual desire has to be the pinnacle of our daily list of priorities. I desire more of Him and less of divided self. Be blessed my friends and hunger today for HIM and HIM alone.
