As I continue my journey through Matthew and the theme of Christ like character, the Lord has given me a good word for today. Did you know that Christ like character is contagious? The distinction that godly character places in our lives will cause frequent persecution and faithful followers. As I read Matthew 4:12-25 there is something that takes place that is a true indicator of contagious character. Jesus leaves the devils temptation island where He gave satan a black eye and left him dazed and confused and began to preach the word of God. In these passages Jesus calls some fishermen to follow Him, and I love what the Bible says, THEY IMMEDIATELY LEFT ALL AND FOLLOWED HIM. Why would these men leave all to follow Christ? I believe that they saw, knew, heard and could since the power of God in Jesus life. The way He walked, the way He talked and the way He lived. You see there is one thing you need to know about contagious character, what I want to ask is " Do others want to follow your example?" YOu see Jesus had one reoccurring theme in His life! HE WALKED IN VICTORY OVER THE ENEMY! Jesus just defeated the enemy and christian character has to battle the enemy daily to let the Word of God order its steps! Others will follow you, come to you, need Christ in you but only if you live with the enemy under your feet. IF your character leads you to be argumentative, hopeless, negative, joyless and purposeless then leadership is led by the world instead of Christ. Others will follow your example but if your example is anything less than a VICTOR they will end up being VICTIMS to satans doom and gloom. Thanks be to God that gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
