I don't know if you have noticed or not but Spring is in the air! I know that today is supposed to be a little dreary and cold but Saturday it was beautiful and it made me parallel something spiritual to it. As I read this morning from Romans 13:12-14 I am reminded of the need to do some Spring cleaning myself. Look at what it says- 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Strong words for us as believers, Paul wrote this to the Romans, those that were known for living in ways that were contrary to Gods word and that loved the flesh! I thought about when I was playing baseball and this time of year I would go to Spring training to prepare myself for the season. I would go through drills, get up early, eat better, sleep better and work harder! I would do these things because of the need to get in shape and to get an advantage on the other players who were trying to get my job. We are in the same place my friends, we need to cast off those things that hinder us, we need to put on the armor of light so that we can walk in victory over the enemy and not allow him to steal our purpose, purity, and passion for Jesus!
My beautiful bride has been on a mission as of late in our house as she has started to Spring clean so to speak, she has been noticing areas of uncleanness that she hasn't noticed over the long winter but now is dusting, scrubbing, and cleaning every area of our house. It has been tough work but she is determined to finish the task. This verse speaks to that in our lives, we need to wake up and see those areas that are hindering us from being less bright, clean, and pure for the cause of Christ! I start today with Spring cleaning and Spring training, will you join me?? It may be tough, you may have to get up a little earlier, you may have to expose some areas to the deep cleaning power of Gods word, but being a vessel of purity and cleanliness is of great price. Let us be vessels of honor that are fit for the masters use! Be blessed!!!

This was truly a blessing this morning. You have a gift Mr. Shawn, thank you for your willingness to share what God has put on your heart. It is a great devotional time as I arrive at school so early, I refer back to it constantly throughout the day. I pray that the man in my life will learn to love the Lord the way that you describe in your entries.
