I know that the title of this blog is funny right now considering we just had 3 inches of snow on the ground :) However, the Holy Spirit spoke something to my heart this morning as I read Psalms 66:16-20 and a focus on verse 18 which says- If I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear me! Now at first glance this looks like a contradiction to grace and mercy. However, you have to look at what this verse is talking about, this verse is talking about prayer and the intimacy of knowing God in such a way that communion is complete! I know that the grace and mercy covers a multitude of sin but I am talking about seeing God move in our prayer lives in a way that is undeniable! I feel that for some of us this is not information but confirmation in what God has been dealing with us concerning our purity and prayers. Notice the word regard in the verse, this means to hide, hold onto or to cling! James 4:17 says that to him that knows to good and doesn't do it to him it is sin. Could it be that many of our prayers are not being answered because of something that we are involved in, holding in, hiding, or clinging to? Listen friends, sin does not have to be outward expressions, it could be an inward possession of something that God has already abolished. Extreme rewards require extreme discipline just ask olympic gold medal winners! I have been convicted this morning of some things that I have been holding onto and it is time for some Spring cleaning. We must come out if we are to enter in! Let me finish with verse 19-20 to encourage you 19- But verily God has heard me he has attended to my prayer, Blessed be God which has not turned away my prayer nor His mercy from me! That is a great encouragement but it is not a deterrent from ensuring that our hearts and lives are clean and that as my Pastor prays, that we will stay close and clean!
