Looking at the creation account in Genesis, I am able to see the character of God in the chapters that detail His creating power. Last night I found out some shocking news concerning two Christian singers that are now living in homosexual lifestyles and are ok with living in darkness that God had delivered them from in the past. Ray Boltz and Jennifer Knapp have relinquished their love for God and given themselves to a carnal love for self because they feel as if they were born this way. This broke my heart because of the testimony that they had for the Lord and the thousands of people that have been touched by their ministries. I believe that this is a warning sign for all believers that satan would have us to live in darkness even though we have been called to the light. THis is what the Lord showed me this morning. In Genesis 1:4-5 the Bible says, "And God saw the light, that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light day and the darkness night. And the evening and morning were the first day. There is a word in here that caught my attention and I think it speaks volumes to the life we are to live in God. THe word divide means to separate or to pull away from and He separated the light from the darkness the first day of creation! Listen to the spiritual implication here, when you accept Christ into your life the bible says you have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of His dear Son (Colossians 1:13) To put it into easy terms, "HE SEPARATED YOU FROM DARKNESS!" This is the first thing that He does in the life of one that places their trust in Christ, this is what He did the first day of creation. He is a God of division, you see the reason He separated light from darkness is because in the first few verses of this chapter the bible refers to darkness as something that was hindering the forming power of Gods word to shape the universe. He can shape our lives today if we can live a life of separation from the thing that caused darkness to live in the land of our lives and cause the voidness and formless life without Christ being ruler over all of our being. Let this be the first day of Gods creation in you to be formed into something that will show others that God has separated the darkness in your life to a new life in Christ! Never forget that it was Gods spoken word to the darkness that caused light to break forth! It is only by knowing and reacting to Gods word that we can live a life of separation from darkness. I can almost guarantee that these two singers had one theme present in their lives, I know this because of the same pattern happened in my life several years ago and that is that they got away from Gods word. I have gotten away from Gods word at times and my life became darker and darker because the further away you get away from light the easier it is to live in darkness. Friends today please spend time in Gods word, it is the only way to continue Gods creating power in your life and to life a life of separation from darkness.
