The Heart of a Servant

It is good to be back sharing with you once again! After some time off of the blog I am up and running again and want to share some insights from the word of God this morning. I really sense the Lord bringing me through a metamorphosis in my life right now, spiritually speaking the Lord is drawing my heart to an area that I have lacked for quite sometime. After my Pastors message this past Sunday my prayer has been for the Lord to lead me to a new level in my walk with Him and the area of enlighten has been astounding!
Romans 1:1- Paul a SERVANT OF JESUS CHRIST!
I have not been able to get past this verse for the past couple of days and it has consumed my thoughts. The word of God will bring to life and to light areas that are in need of resurrection and for me this is an area that has been lacking. NOw don't get me wrong, it is not like I have not been a servant of something, each of us serve something, it just depends on what it is. Paul here declares first and foremost that he is a servant-- what exactly does that mean?? A servant is also known as a slave, or under direct influence of the master. A slave has the masters will at heart and will do what the master desires. SO here is the question, " What are you allowing to frame your decisions and lead your life?" I had to take a hard look at myself, lets get real here yall :) Heres a checklist that I wrote down in my quiet time, where do you stack up?

Servants

Lives for the Master                                                  Fights for the Master
Serves the Master                                                    Takes care of the Masters possessions
Would die for the Master
Places the Masters desires above his own

These traits actually shows how selfish I am at times, in a culture that says that self fulfillment is how we should live ( Just ask Oprah) this is contrary to Gods word and the way Jesus gave His life for a ransom for many. My desire today is to have servant hood burned into the fabric of my character, I am not there yet but I pray that I am on my way. It is not about what we can get, but rather what we can give!!
