I think that this is the heart of where many Christians get stuck in a place of complacency and in a stage of hibernation, the lack of spiritual desire and passion gets choked out by the cares of the world and deceitfulness of riches and stanches the life out of believers. I can give witness to this wile of the devil as things get in the way of my love walk with Jesus. Passion is a strong verb that is powerful emotion, such as love, joy, desire, and finds pleasure in, our passions have to change if our lives are going to change!
A quick illustration may help with this desire for the living water, the King of KIngs and Lord of Lords!
Sue and I have been taking walks lately in the evening and we take our dogs with us as we make our way around the neighborhood. When we are done I notice that the dogs have one thing on their mind when they get back to the house and that is to find the water bowl. Because of the need for this water they will even drink at the same time out of the same bowl :) They taught me something this morning as I reflected on this word from Psalm and that is the question that has been posed to me," Do I desire the Living Water of Gods word like that?" Do I have so many other things on my mind that I miss the true fulfilling substance and milk of the Word of God? I challenge you to pray for desire to be stirred up in your own heart, make it an everyday prayer and see the wild fire of the Word of God change and burn away complacency! The Word is a continual well spring of hope, joy, love, life and leading!!
