I couldn't help but share my beautiful family with you all! My life is blessed and I am satisfied with where I am in life. Now I can tell you that my career is not where I would like it to be, I have many things that I would like to accomplish but the Holy Spirit has reminded me this morning of an important spiritual practice that I have neglected over the past months. Something that brings great joy and fulfillment in life and I think we all could use a dose of this.........
REST
You heard me right, rest! I have felt anxious, unfulfilled, frustrated at times because I am not where I think I should be in my career and in other areas. However, in Acts 1:4- Jesus commands the disciples to wait for the promise... This word if looked up and studied means --Waiting means resting in God's timing and activity while taking care of our responsibilities— Did you notice the word rest? Here is where a lot of us get in trouble, we get so geared up so full of our own expectations that we get frustrated, anxious, and become depleted and un productive. I can speak from experience on this because this is where I have dwelled over the past few months and I am exhausted!
However, today is the day to begin to rest, rest from worry, rest from fear, rest from frustration, rest from anxiety, rest from unrealistic expectations. God is God and is calling you to wait for the promise! He is working in your behalf but it may be that He is working on you through it all! Oh dear friend, the next time you start to enjoy any of the emotions that are above, tell them to go back to sleep, its time to rest! There is such joy and fulfillment in this and boy do I need that!
This is super timely for me! I've been feeling this way for the past 2 years of my life. I've had a nagging feeling that this is the rest time and I should be enjoying it. God doesn't make a whole lot of sense 99% of the time, but when things come full circle, it's humbling! Thanks for such a great reminder lesson, brother :-)
