I have noticed a few wonderful truths in my class that I have been teaching on Wed nights over the past few weeks. I have noticed that everyone that has been coming is hungry for Gods word and the hope and power that it brings in the lives of those that will digest it! When the Lord wants to show you something He will many times put it into perspectives that my simple mind can understand. My 4 month old has taught me many lessons and today is no different. When I feed my little girl I notice that when she is not hungry or craving milk then she will turn her head, spit the milk out and fuss. When she doesn't eat, there is not much time that will pass and she will be irritable, cranky and her lack of desire for milk doesn't nourish and provide the much needed nutrients that will help her grow! 1 Peter 2:2-3 gave me this thought, listen to what it says. verse 2-3: as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. When we desire the milk of Gods word that will cause us to grow then we will have in our lives the spiritual growth that only His word can bring. When I am hungry, food tastes really good and I devour it! If we can be a people that are hungry and desire for Gods word this way then our lives will be changed. When my little girl desires to eat, she gobbles down that bottle and she gets satisfied and is a different baby because of the nourishment the milk brings. She smiles, giggles, and sleeps better after the bottle. My question is when you go to church on Sundays, get into devotion with the Lord, do you hunger for GOds word?? If there is no hunger then the ability to consume His word will not be there. I guarantee on the authority of Gods word that if you will wake each day with a hunger for Gods word, when the pastor stands in the pulpit on Sundays, or when a Sunday school teacher stands to teach, you will not only have the milk of Gods word flow into your life but your life will be changed. I guess the underlying question that the Lord asked my heart this morning is," Do you want to grow?" I ll leave you with that this morning and pray that the answer for us all is yes. Lets be a people of desiring Gods milk of His word that we may grow by it!!

Shawn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your commitment to teach on Wednesday nights! It is exciting to see how God is using you to minister. I love you brother!
I am praying for you, Sue, and Leah this morning.

There is nothing more satisfying than having that feeling of being "fed" and "getting full" from God's word, but holding those precious miracles in your arms and watching them get satisfied with milk sure does come close. You and Sue are so wonderful and Leah is blessed to have both of you as her parents.
ReplyDeleteLove you both so much and congrats on the class.
