When I woke this morning I had a phrase on my heart that the Lord placed! The phrase, " Where else would I turn or where else would I go?" I anticipated something from Gods word and the scripture is true that if we hunger and thirst for righteousness we will be filled.
This word has filled my heart with faith and direction for days to come. The account of John 6 tells us of Jesus teaching on consuming Christ flesh and His blood. This is a hard saying to many and can be misunderstood just as it was back then to the disciples and the pharisees. Many of those that followed Christ up until that point left him and followed him no more! It made me think of those of us that at times follow Christ in a comfort zone relationship that is what I like to call top soil faith. The first layer of our lives appear to the world to be following, but the roots of faith in our life are non existent when times of growth are called for. You see Jesus desired those that followed Him simply would consume His word, His character, and His love. Not only consume it but follow it! My heart longs to have an answer like Peter when circumstance in my life call for a direction. Listen to the dialogue between Jesus and Peter. 67"You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.
68Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
I hope that you grasp that today, when temptation, trials, decisions, actions or reactions are called for I pray that my words would be as Peters," To who shall I go?" Another words what else would lead my actions and my life? Do we turn to our emotions when wronged or hurt? Do we turn to our flesh when we have a fleshly desire? Do we turn to our worry or fear when things are not lining up with our liking? Oh my friends if we could simply turn to the WORD OF GOD then fear, worry, anxiety, lusts, anger, and any other thing under the sun would be led and directed by the very life, love, and light of Gods word! Be blessed as you turn to Jesus today!
