I am not sure that I've had a more relevant word over the past few months than the word the Lord shared with me on Monday! I was reading Acts 1 and my heart was full of many faces that I felt that this word was for (including me), so I wanted to share it because it may be for you as well. Acts 1:4- And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the Father.
Do you ever get impatient or think that the thing that the Lord has shown you is taking to long to come to pass? What about a prayer that you have been praying or something that has been on your heart to accomplish? I have to tell you that I am in that boat, I know that the Lord has something big for me to do but I think that the Lord would say the same to us even now, WAIT FOR THE PROMISE! The challenge for the disciples were the same as they are for us now as it pertains to the desires of our hearts. They had to deal with family members turning their backs on them, limited resources, feeling alone, feeling unimportant and unwanted... But O the Promise my friend that they were waiting on was something so powerful and so life changing that whatever the desire of their hearts were it would be as noting compared to knowing Him! They did one thing that I think that we all can take a lesson from and that is to be faithful in what God has asked you to do. They were told not to leave Jerusalem, obviously they didnt, because in the following verses the promise came!
Dont be discouraged today my friend, simply be faithful in the season God has you in and what He promised you will come to pass. It is by faith and patience do we inherit the promises of God!!! Stay in your Jerusalem, it is in this season that you are to be streched and built into someone that is capable of inheriting the promise that He has for you!
amen. I know that it can be frustrating to us as we pray over and over and wait and wait and wait. Still I am sure that it is frustrating to God that we cannot seem to remember that it is He who is in control of ALL things and He who knows what the future holds. When we learn to trust that He will do what He said He would do and stop thinking of things from our limited human timeframe and wait on His perfect timeframe (because let's face it - what do we know that He doesn't - NOTHING!)we can find peace. Thanks for the reminder. ~cb~
ReplyDeleteThis has been a big topic in many groups I have been with this week. Its no coincidence that it was in the utmost devotion this morning and then I read the same topic on your blog. I agree that we need to have faith in order to have patience, this has been tested throughout history and most fail by trusting in the flesh. Saul and Abraham are good examples of the consequences that come when we do not have the faith and patience to wait for God. These were Mighty men of the spirit that failed. Abraham waited 13 years, David waited something like 40 years. We start getting anxious after a couple of weeks when we dont have clear instructions from God. We can only be grounded in faith everyday with the tool that God has given us and thats his Word. God made examples of these men for the worlds sake, that we may learn from them. Shawn its great to have a brother like you in the spirit, it is truly amazing how God speaks to all of us at once.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you're back!
ReplyDeleteShawn thanks for this encouraging word today...I love it and can totally relate to it.
