Time to build a house!

The title of this post for some may be frightening, I say this because if you are like me, building anything reguires patience and attention to detail. However, I wanted to share with you a spiritual application that the Holy Spirit shared with me this morning concerning our lives.

Romans 6:13- Neither yield your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Reading this passage brings me to a realization of a need to submit, yield and give my life to living for Jesus. That is a statment that we probably hear all the time, but how do we do it? If some of you are like me, I need a blue print to build almost anything. If I start to build something and I try to do it my own way, it ALWAYS ends up not like it is supposed to. ( DOnt laugh)However, I desire with my whole heart to be a godly man, husband, and Father in this world and I need to know how. I mean a step by step instruction, something to follow so that I can become the spiritual house that God intended for me to be. Well, here it is, I think its found in the verse above. The passage ( yield your instruments unto God)

The word instruments is a greek word hopla that properly signifies "arms;" or implements of war; but it also denotes an instrument of any kind which we use for defense or aid. So here it is, our bodily members are instruments or war that we either can use for Gods kingdom or our own? The tongue, mind, ears, hands, feet and every other area of our lives can either be a weapon for righteousness or ungodliness.

How do I build a spiritual house that has Jesus Christ as the banner in the front yard? One that is a life that fights for Jesus, lives for Gods kingdom? EVERYDAY yield an instrument of war to God. Start with one area and the entire day continually yield it to God. Maybe its the mind, every minute submit it to God, what you think about is usually what you will be about. Take a bodily instument and begin to build the spiritual house that God desired you to be. He will purify it!
