What do you want to be when you grow up?

Romans 6:16-18
16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

I was watching a video of my family when I was about 12 years old, and yes that was a long time ago! But we were all asked the question," What do you want to be when you grow up?" My answer was like alot of 12 year old boys, I wanted to be a professional baseball player and play for the Chicago Cubs! I was able to realize that dream and play pro baseball for a few years, however, not with the Cubs :)
I felt the same question asked to my heart this morning in my quiet time. My answer was surprising even to myself, my answer wasn't to be a pro baseball player ( that time has passed) it wasn't to be a corporate influence or even have anything to do with money, prestige, or status. I was reading the above verse and I found what I want to be! I want to be a servant of righteousness!

The great thing about this desire is that according to the word in verse 18, we are right now a servant of righteousness, if we been set free from sin by receiving Christ into our lives! A servant of righteousness looks to submit themselves to righteousness, be led by righteousness and completely forsake other masters! The master of sin, flesh, worldly ambition and pride should die with the commitment to be a servant of righteousness! Oh my desire is this, to live as unto the Lord, not unto a job, flesh, men, money or position.

I want you to pray about something, I have been heavily influenced by the movie Courageous and gleaned an idea about commitment. I am going to pray through a contract that I will be posting in the next few days, one that will outline what a servant of righteousness is according to Gods word. I want to have as many people as they are led by God to be held accountable before God and man to stay to this call! I think it will transform our lives as we seek to press towards the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus! Be blessed my friends and I pray for you as you pray for me!
