Its hard to believe that our son is one month old already! Oh how the time flies as you get older :) And as Matthew gets ready to go the doctor and get his checkup, I couldn't help but think about my own life and ask Dr Jesus to do a checkup in me! Matthews doctor will check all of his vitals, check his weight, height, and determine how much he has grown over the past weeks. The Doctor does this to find out if he is healthy or if he has any areas that may need special attention.
As I read this morning Genesis 3, I hear Dr Jesus asking this question to my heart, it is found in verse 9- where God asked Adam," Where are you?" You see Adam was hiding, he was ashamed and embarrassed for a sin he had committed, his fellowship with God had been broken and didn't know how to come back into His presence. So here is the question as we do our monthly exam, " Where are you?" Where are you spiritually? Where are you in your assignment that God has given you? Where are you in your relationships? Where are you in your devotion to the Lord Jesus? My exam left me needing, desiring and depending more on Jesus! I am scheduling another appointment in a month, to ask Jesus to reveal to me the areas of growth and weakness. I can tell you that just looking at my son, he has grown and developed at a rate that is amazing. Let that be said of me as Dr Jesus looks at my life!
What a powerful life lesson! I've been doing a lot of re-examing my life and God has been pointing out the "sore" spots that need healing and extra attention. I hope that I'm able to grow more and more and be obedient. Growing pains kind of suck :-)
